Wednesday
We
actually had UESTC lesson at 9am in the morning. However, I was not able to
wake up on time for the morning lesson and had to give it a miss. I know that
this might sound like an excuse but the cold weather is really too comfortable
for me to sleep in through the morning. Thus I had trouble trying to wake up in
the morning as I kept on snoozing my alarm clock and kept demanding for 15
minutes more of sleep. When I finally woke up it was already going to be in the
afternoon and I had to quickly get ready for the afternoon class. During the
afternoon class, we didn’t have lessons but then we had 2 quizzes; quiz 4 and
quiz 5, to be done. At first I was very shock to know that we need to do two
quizzes in one day since the actual plan was that we only have to do quiz 4
today. But during the time when I was preparing for the afternoon lesson,
Shinyi suddenly told us that there would be two quizzes needed to be done. I
began to really panic because I did not study for the quiz at all, but in the
end she told us that it was actually an open-book test. At that moment, I felt
relieve and a little cheated. Relieve because it is an open-book test but
cheated because she could have to me earlier so that I do not have to feel so
panic in the first place.
After
the end of the 2 quizzes, we had to practice on a mass dance at night, near an
empty school ground. As we were told that the student helpers here in UESTC
have organized for us a programme called the Student Cultural Exchange
Programme, where they would celebrate the Mooncake Festival together with us.
Thus we were required to hold a couple of performances for them in exchange. The
mass dance was done by a group of the guys who were in charge of the mass
dance’s choreography. To be honest, I was really looking forward to it. This is
because I myself have the passion for dancing but it is just that I am trying
to quit this hobby of mine since young. My mother actually dislike seeing me
getting involved in any dance activities thus I was forced to forgo my dancing
passion. However I secretly manage to get myself involve in some dancing
activities without my parents’ knowledge during secondary school. But I grew
tired of pursuing my hobby in secrecy; therefore I started to put a stop to it
ever since I came to Polytechnic. It is hard for me, since dancing is my
passion, it is in my blood, but I try to refrain myself as much as possible.
Well, until today that is.
I
really had a fun time learning the choreography for the mass dance together
with everyone. This is because every one of us was cooperating with Adey, the
person in charge in teaching us the dance, and was serious in learning the
dance. It was an interesting experience because even though we might not really
know each other that well yet, we are still able to cooperate and work together
to make the performance for the programme a success.
