Thursday
After
Mr Teh’s lesson in the morning, we had a UESTC lesson with a female lecturer in
the afternoon on a topic called ‘Myths and Legends.’ The first batch of us who
reached the lecture theater for the lesson is Rose Marie, Huiting, Shinyi and
I. We were by the premises on time but the lecturer ‘scold-ask’ us on why were
we so late for class. I can also sense that she was not really please with us.
When it was already around 2.35pm there still only us girls and Ms Ray who was
waiting for the rest to come. I felt really bad and angry as an Ngee Ann
Polytechnic student because the rest of them were not showing the discipline
side and I see the teacher’s unhappy expression. She was even asking us if we
are just the only one coming for today’s lesson. When she finally starts the
lesson, I was totally on ears on her. She began talking about the Myth about
the the God who created the world, Gansu, and the God who created people, Nwyva.
It was an interesting lesson as I’ve got to gain new knowledge like the Chinese
people believe that women was created first instead of men where I myself was
religiously taught that men were created first before women. While halfway
listening to the lecture, my eyes got heavier and heavier by the minute but I
still preserve on to stay awake until the end of the lesson. However, I did
realize that I have fallen asleep when I got woken up after the end of the
lesson. I felt really guilty to know that I have sleep throughout the
lecturer’s lesson.
After
that, we had a dikir barat practice at around 7pm at night. Today’s practice
was special as we had Ms Ray to join us in performing the dikir barat together.
Those in charge of the dikir barat were Raidah, the main singer, and Aisyah,
the one who would teach us the hand movements. As compared to yesterday’s
practice, I think that today’s dikir barat practice was the most exciting. This
is because every one of us was hyper and going crazy when the teaching session
had started. We were also being cooperative and listen to what Aisyah is
teaching us attentively. Following that, we had another mass dance practice
session, which is our last dance practice since tomorrow is the day of the
exchange programme. All of us practice seriously, but not too serious as the
point of it is not to show the UESTC student leaders a perfect performance but
for us to bond together and just have fun. Since this whole trip is about
learning and trying new experience, the most important key is just to enjoy
ourselves and have fun. To be honest, I really had a great time being together
with everyone and try to get the whole performance done. Right now I’m feeling
anxious and excited for tomorrow as I finally get to perform after such a long
time.
