Sunday
I
was feeling very excited today as it was finally time for the trip that I had
been awaiting for since I decided to come for this Overseas Immersion Programme
trip to Chengdu, China. When people talk about China, the first thing that
comes to mind is the cute and cuddly pandas. As I had always been a fanatic of these
fragile creatures, my excitement overwhelms me throughout the one hour bus
journey to Cheng Du Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. When we finally
reached the site, I’ve got to see many of these pandas lazing around since they
already had their food. Actually, we were supposed to assemble at 8.30am but
then we only gathered by 9am. Thus we only had about two and a half hour to
walk around and sightseeing the pandas. It was a really extraordinary
experience to see both the normal and red pandas. Despite the chilly weather, seeing
the pandas makes me forget about such coldness since I got my contentment to
see pandas fulfilled.
After
that, we went for another trip to the Jinsha Site Museum to find out more about
Chengdu’s history thousand years ago. I’ve got to know their national treasures
like the Sun Bird Disk and Golden Mask. I also got to see many other fascinating
artifacts that were once buried deep into the ground for sacrificial purposes
to please the gods. Examples of the sacrificial items are copper, huge elephant
tusks and jade. At the end of the tour around the museum with an English speaking
tour guide, we got to watch a short 4D movie that showcases how Chengdu looked
like in the past and part of its history. It was my first time experiencing a
4D movie and it was really very interesting as I could really feel like I was
part in the movie itself since they make use of the sense of touch to maximize the
movie experience. In all I thought that the whole trip today was fruitful and
was really pleasurable.POSTED BY ♥th-SHARINAH{: ON Sunday, September 23, 2012 @ 8:31 AM
