Thursday
It
was a chilly Thursday morning where all of us had to wake up and gather at one
of the drop of point early in the morning with our bags filled with about three
to four days’ worth of clothes for the Jiu Zhai Gou trip. From there, we
boarded the bus and set off for a total of 7 hour bus journey, with meal and
toilet break times being included. It was a really super long and bumpy journey
we had since we are at China, a gigantic huge amount of land space as compared
to our island Singapore. I tried to stay awake as much as possible to be
mesmerized by the scenery throughout the journey but I ended up sleeping or
getting short naps in between. However, I managed to get a glimpse view of the
Tibetan housing and environment. Also I got to capture some interesting facts
about Tibetans; a minority of them is a Muslims, a white yak is holy and
uneatable as compared to the black yak and etc.
As
we get down from the bus for toilet breaks, I could feel the air getting colder
and windy. Not only that, the air also seems fresher to breathe in, well to me
that is. I could hold on my nature’s call and didn’t have to visit the toilet
during every single toilet breaks. But when I do, I had the most shock of my
life to the extent that I almost had a mental breakdown. The conditions of the
washrooms are just so unspeakable that no words could totally describe it. The
only time I really need to visit the ladies was the time where it could most
probably be the worst among the worsts toilets I have encountered. It was an
open toilet that is covered by four walls that was made of wood and they dig a
hole for you to do your business and you could see and even smell human wastes
that would just make you barf. The stench was really very seriously revolting
to my every sense. That was the time where no matter how dirty Singapore’s
toilet maybe, it can’t be as much worse as that and I promise not to be
complacent or choosy when it comes to using Singapore’s toilet.
After
another long hour of driving, we finally reached our hotel, Yin He River Motel.
We carried our bags and luggage to the restaurant nearby the motel to have our
dinner. To be honest, I got really sick and tired of the food because most of
the dishes that they served us were nothing but vegetables and about one dish
is a meat type. But then, the meat is so little. Not only that the taste of the
food is either too bland or too salty. Thus I always end up eating rice most
than the side dishes available. Also, they serve very similar food all over
again and that makes me loose me appetite even more. When we’re done with the
food, we check-in to our rooms and my roommate was Aisyah. Once we’ve settled
down, Aisyah and I went around checking out the other’s rooms and settled in
one to play games till about almost 1 or 2 am in the next morning before going
back to our own rooms to sleep.
